Plenty of free boats we come across are the result of big dreams and ideas that didn’t quite work out for the previous owner- lack of time, money, skill, who knows what, tend to lead to a strong start to a project that fizzles out. We recently posted a free 1969 Sailstar/Bristol Voyager that the owner wanted to turn into a “Termainl Trawler”, but lost momentum.
What’s a Terminal Trawler? Go ahead and google it, there are plenty of examples, but most often, they are old boats that are retrofitted as mini trawlers with weekending or even cruising amenities inside when finished. Some of these projects look pretty cool, and could be a great way for an old boat to gain a second life!
Duckworks Magazine article on Terminal Trawlers, for one example.
